Replace the S500 Series Hard Disk Drive

The S500 Series is equipped with 24 hot-swappable hard disk drive slots. Each hard drive is equipped with a status LED. Depending upon the model and configuration of the appliance, some drive bays might be populated with empty drive carriers. These carriers should not be removed when the appliance is in operation.

If you are upgrading your S500 Series appliance, review the appliance HDD configuration to see which drive bays are populated.

  1. Determine which HDD is faulty (ProxySG / ASG only):
    1. Log in to the appliance.

    2. In the Management Console, navigate to:

      • ProxySG: Maintenance > System and Disks > Disks
      • ASG: Proxy > Maintenance > System and Disks > Disks
    3. View the Status to see the current condition of the drives. If there is a problem with the drive, it is indicated under the Status column.

    4. Identify the HDD that should be replaced.

  2. Open the bezel to access the HDD quick release carriers.

  3. Verify that the HDD status LED turns green to indicate proper operational status after a few moments.
  4. Close the appliance bezel.
