Replace the S500 Series Hard Disk Drive
The S500 Series is equipped with 24 hot-swappable hard disk drive slots. Each hard drive is equipped with a status LED. Depending upon the model and configuration of the appliance, some drive bays might be populated with empty drive carriers. These carriers should not be removed when the appliance is in operation.
If you are upgrading your S500 Series appliance, review the appliance HDD configuration to see which drive bays are populated.
- Determine which HDD is faulty (ProxySG / ASG only):
Log in to the appliance.
In the Management Console, navigate to:
- ProxySG: Maintenance > System and Disks > Disks
- ASG: Proxy > Maintenance > System and Disks > Disks
View the Status to see the current condition of the drives. If there is a problem with the drive, it is indicated under the Status column.
Identify the HDD that should be replaced.
Open the bezel to access the HDD quick release carriers.
Press the HDD release button to open the carrier latch and pull the HDD carrier a short distance from the appliance using the carrier latch handle. After the HDD carrier body is in view, fully remove the carrier while supporting the carrier body.Show diagram...
Properly orient the new HDD carrier with the chassis HDD bay and slide into the appliance until it reaches the chassis stops and secure the drive by closing the latch until it clicks into place.
Note: Do not insert the HDD carrier with the latch in the closed position! Instead, push the HDD carrier body to avoid damaging the carrier.Show diagram...
- Verify that the HDD status LED turns green to indicate proper operational status after a few moments.
- Close the appliance bezel.
